Uri Kelman’s background in drawing life models goes back many years. At age 18, while still in high school, Kelman studied with Marcel Janco, one of the founders of the Dada art movement. Later, Kelman studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Bezallel Art and Design Academy. A graphic designer and art director by trade, Kelman has participated in a number of local art fairs like The Woodlands Waterway Art Festival and The Bayou City Art Fair, with the next show being in a Houston Downtown event during October. Kelman draws one evening a week at the Houston Art Institute to teach and help students that are seeking guidance. Kelman remains heavily influenced by the renaissance masters as well as the Russian master, Nicholas Fechin.
