One of our artist's comment- "This preview party ranks with the top in the nation along with Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Art Scramble is yours alone. I have no suggestions .I deeply appreciate all that your staff and volunteers do on our behalf. The venue is beautiful and the guests most gracious. Well done, in my opinion, you surely, in such a short period of time, the upper tier managed shows. Thank you very much for the opportunity to be in the show-So far my very best show in 2010"

Portrait Workshop with Clayton Beck III

Woodlands Art League Gallery at Market Street
presents Clayton Beck III

After graduation from the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Clayton studied at the Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts with Richard Schmid. Clayton’s career began while still at the American Academy, exhibiting at Jody Kirberger’s Talisman Gallery and winning awards from the Midwest Pastel Society, the Palette and Chisel and the Pastel Society of America. He began teaching Saturday classes in Chicago after graduation from art school.

Artist Statement: "My love for painting has always been enhanced by my love to teach. Any artist who thinks they understand painting should try teaching. They will soon realize how little they know. I have always felt that I have a responsibility to teach because I have been given a generous gift from my teachers (i.e. Bill Parks, Ted Smuskiewicz, and Richard Schmid) and it should be passed on to the next generation of painters who share this love of art."

Recently, Clayton has been featured in International Artist Magazine, and in last fall's American Artist Workshop Magazine.

Workshop offerings:
Week 1: Portrait Painting Nov 8-12 9am-4pm $450
Week 2: Portrait Painting/looking at masters such as Sargent, Fechin, Mancini... Nov 15-19 9am-4pm $450

Woodlands Art League wins Chairman's Ball Award

On Saturday night August 21st, South Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce held its annual Chairman's Ball at the Waterway Marriott Hotel. Woodlands Art League participated in the event by sponsoring a Tabletop decoration. This was WAL's first time to attend the Chairman's Ball and also to donate their efforts by decorating one of 58 banquet tables at the event. Numerous WAL members assisted with this endeavor and to everyone's delight, Woodlands Art League was awarded a wonderful trophy for the "Best Use of Theme" category! WAL is very proud of its many talented members and so thankful for all the support and encouragement from each of them.
